Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat unveiled the project to construct Lvali lake in Pauri The 692.77 lakh project in Lvali village in Pauri block would get completed in one year. The CM along with other public representatives listened, “ Mann ki baat’ programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the unveiling ceremony of the proposed lake. Congratulating the people of the area for the lake, Rawat said apart from providing water for a long period, irrigation of 34 hectare land would also be done from the lake. He said that PM Modi has given top priority to water conservation in plan of action for next five years. The CM added that with passage of time, the ground water level is depleting and we should be concerned about availability of water for the coming generations. He claimed that construction of lake would increase the water table of the area. Rawat said that his government is constructing lakes at many places in the state and for Pauri district, lakes at Lvali, satpuli and Jaiharikhal are approved. He said that the places near the lakes become ideal for cultivation of vegetables and fruits. The CM directed the officials concerned to ensure that the lake gets completed within the stipulated time period of one year. He said that efforts should be made to complete the projects before time.
On a concerned note, the CM pointing towards the terraced fields said that it took generations to prepare these fields and new avenues should be found to make to revive agriculture in mountainous areas. He averred that both tourism and agriculture have vast potential in Uttarakhand. He informed that a Sita Mata temple circuit would be set up and at this temple a mega fair would be organised by the government after Diwali which will help in linking this area with tourism.
The minister of state for higher education, Dhan Singh Rawat, Pauri MLA Mukesh Koli and Garhwal commissioner B R V C Purushottam were present on the occasion.
